What will happen if it is a failed suicide? (biological fuctions and/or mental functions)

Do I want to die? No. Do I want help? Yes. Can I get help? Not really...no one is helping me. Parents will just laugh or say it's work of the devil. No one on here knows my history or anything so please don't judge or be rude.

Has anyone survived that has the same proportions as my body that took ambien?

Please I don't want people saying not to do this or try to get help. You got to realize I tried but no one takes me seriously. We are all human and have free will to do whatever we please. And if I want to or someone else wants to commit suicide it's their choice and no one elses. I am a Psychology major and I know the biological and mental functions my disorders have and how they contribute to one wanting to kill themselves.
I have taken only two of these pills before and each time it was only 1 10mg pill and I felt like I was on some high or very drunk feeling that I could not walk and I was very dizzy. And this is only 1 pill.

 As far as how much of a drug would be fatal, it depends on more than age/sex/weight; everyone reacts differently to substances and has a different natural tolerance as well as a built-up tolerance.

Any dosage beyond what is prescribed for you is an overdose. If you were to OD, it would be an unpleasant experience to say the least. First of all, if you have too much of a substance in your system, your body usually tries to get rid of it via lots of vomiting. Other signs of OD include:

* Tiredness
* Drowsiness
* Lightheadedness
* Dizziness
* Clumsiness
* Shallow breathing
* Unsteady walk
* Confusion
* Slowed heart rate
* Breathing difficulty

The breathing difficulty doesn't sound easy to deal with either. Ever not been able to breathe? It's a scary feeling.

People think that pills are a very efficient, painless way to die, but in reality, an overdose will make a person very, very sick and in a good deal of physical/mental pain because your body will fight against the drugs to keep you alive. That's what it's there to do.

I'm not judging, but you can get help. Family and friends can be insensitive and have trouble understanding mental illness in other people. They may not take you seriously. If you call a mental health agency or hospital, or go to a hospital ER, they WILL take you seriously. Their job is to help people who feel the way that you do.

Yes, suicide is a choice, but it's not your only choice and it's not the only one out there that can alleviate the pain. You say you don't want to die; if you mean that, then please take the time to think of your other options.

How hard is it coming off Ambien after taking it everyday for 6 months?

How hard is it coming off Ambien after taking it everyday for 6 months?
I was prescribed Ambien for insomnia that was caused by another medication I have to take everyday(Wellbutrin). I don't want to become addicted/cause any problems with my body so I am going to try and stop it. I take 10mgs every night so should I cut each pill in half and take 5mgs every night instead? And then take 2.5mgs for a week to completely taper off?
Hi, you are asking a very good question! I have been through exactly what you are going through, and I know a lot of people who have done the same thing. In my sources I reference three websites. Please visit them! One is a discussion thread on topix where a lot of us talk about this topic, and you will get quick answers to any questions you might have. Please go there and introduce yourself, you will get quick answers and plenty of help.
First of all, you were addicted after you took Ambien for about three weeks. It is highly addictive, and very damaging to brain and body. After six months, the damage is done. You can quit and you can recover completely. It won't be easy, but it can be done, and it isn't that difficult is you know what to expect.
Go see your doctor and tell him or her you want to stop taking it. Be forewarned that most doctors don't really have a clue how to quit taking ambien, or what you will go through when you do quit, so they may or may not be able to help you. They may be able to give you other (non-addictive) medications to help you quit the ambien. If you taper it off as quickly as you have outlined, you might suffer some unpleasant side effects. I spent six weeks tapering, and it was moderately unpleasant, but I made it. Others have spent may months tapering their dosage, others quit immediately.

There is too much to tell you about quitting ambien, I can't write it all here. Please visit the websites I reference. If you want to ask any questions here, I will answer the best I can.

The first link is a website dedicated to recovery from Ambien. It's in beta but has some good information.

The second link is the ambien headache thread at topix, it has several years of history from people like us who took ambien and want to stop. Please go there and introduce yourself. You will get support and information that will help you through this journey.

The third link is the Point of Return website, a site founded by people who have been through this and want to help others. Email or call them, ask for Alesandra, she can help you a lot. They specialize in helping people quit taking sleeping pills and other drugs.

Can I get ambien at an Urgent Care?

Can I get ambien at an Urgent Care?
I just moved to another state, and I don't have primary physician here yet and I have bad insomnia. I've taken ambien for it for a couple of years and it works dreams. But i'm all out. I just started a new job working 3rd shift and I'm dying trynig to adjust to these hours and not getting any sleep. If I go to urgent care will they prescribe me some ambien?
Urgent care isn't going to prescribe you ambien. Call your primary care doctor from the last state and have them fax a prescription to your local pharmacy. They shouldn't have a problem prescribing you a month supply while you look for a new primary care doctor.

Ambien CR on overnight long haul flight?

Ambien CR on overnight long haul flight?
Does anyone have any experience to share with using a sleeping pill like Ambien CR on an overnight long haul flight? I have a pretty lengthy all-night flight coming up and would like to make sure I get some rest, but am a bit cautious that I might just end up feeling drugged and dizzy. I’ve used Ambien CR often at home with no bad effects, but never on a plane. Thanks for your insights in advance!
Yes.. I found it to be incredible. in the past I have tried xanax but get way to groggy and feel wierd.I took one on a 9 hour flight from Honolulu to Newark. I took it about 90 mins into the flight ( after dinner), and next thing I knew it was about 1 hour until we land. I slept like a rock for 6 hours straight which is something i never do on planes. And really wasnt groggy at all. A little disoriented for a few mins, but then felt great. I am always going to do that for every flight over 8 hours from now on.

Ambien and Suicide, has anyone know of this to happen to their loved one?

 Ambien and Suicide, has anyone know of this to happen to their loved one?
Please, if you or anyone else you know are currently taking Ambien, talk to your Dr. It was to later for our family but it could save someone elses loved one. After going to a therapist this week to help with my loss, she without a doubt, said this was not a planned suicide, but an interaction , chemical imbalance STRONGLY related to taking the Ambien for the past two months. She also told me there is a class action suit already going on,

Answer by thomas p
The mystery to me is what was the interacting agent? I have never heard of an Ambien interaction. But, I have only spoken with medical researchers and maybe a class action law office would realize the dangers of Ambien even when taken at the recommended dosage. I know that Prozac was assigned blame for many suicides in spite of the great help it provided to depressed patients. Is the therapist a medical doctor or a psychologist or psychiatric social worker rather than someone trained in chemistry? Ambien is now in a generic version demonstrating a long therapeutic experience with the medication. I would question the comment of the “therapist.”

Ambien – a detailed analysis of this prescription medication?

Ambien – a detailed analysis of this prescription medication? I’m writing an article for an online website and I was asked to write a detailed analysis of this Ambien a prescription medication.
What exactly does that mean?

I was guessing that it meant just details about the medication itself. I have taken it myself which is the reason I was asked to write it.

Answer by Noone i
As a 15 yr problem sleeper, ie: not getting more than 1-3 hours sleep PER 24 hour day, I finally gave in and asked the doctor for some help. He prescribed Ambien. I was reluctant to try it but did, and was literally shocked when I got 7 straight hours of sleep the first night.

Since that first usage two yrs ago I have found that if I use it for a few nights and then take a week off, I often get good sleep for a few nights even after I am not taking it. After about a week it becomes necessary to take it again.

I would strongly recommend that first time users take 1/4 or 1/2 of an Ambien tablet to see how they will react to it. I found thats all I need for a great nights sleep.
